Relationships 101 – How to Become a Recovering “Control Freak,” and A Program to Help Abused Men
Dr. Beth Erickson: “My first guest, Dan Walker, is a self-confessed “control freak.” When his life as he had known it collapsed, he had to face how his personality style was sabotaging his whole life. My second guest, Jan Elizabeth Brown, runs a national helpline which is based in Maine, for male victims of domestic abuse. Their number is 888-743-5754. As far as she knows, hers is the only program like it in the country designed to help abused men.”

Relationships 101 is a series of conversations with Dr. Beth Erickson and her guests about relationships of
all kinds: spouses, partners and singles, parents with children and grandchildren, siblings with each other, friendships, and mentors and the mentees whose growth they invest in nurturing. Its central theme emphasizes the importance of relationships to everyone’s quality of life and the problems that occur when they are fractured.
Violence Dr. Steve Olivas discussed how the quality of people’s emotional attachment to their parents in childhood has a profound impact on the health of the intimate relationships they develop as adults. Then researcher Dr. Denise Hines discussed her findings that demonstrate that Intimate Terrorism is not limited just to women. Many men are indeed abused physically and emotionally by their spouse. Unfortunately, it is more common than is typically thought. Archive: http://webtalkradio.net/2010/09/27/relationships-101-%E2%80%93-attachment-styles-and-male-victims-of-domestic-violence/
